Help and Guidelines
Guidance for searching recorded information and submitting trade mark details for administrator review.
How to Search Trademarks
Enter a word or phrase in Search. Advanced Search provides contains, starts-with and exact wordmark matching, with case-insensitive comparisons. Combine criteria for words, owner, goods and services, class, status, type and filing dates. Different filter groups are combined; multiple selections within a group match any selected value.
How to Search by Registration Number
Enter the recorded trade mark, application or registration number in Search, or use the number field in Advanced Search. A number in this portal is not, by itself, evidence of official registration.
How to Search by Owner
Use the owner field in Advanced Search. Matching searches recorded owner or applicant names for the entered text.
Understanding Trademark Classes
Nice Classification uses classes 1–45. Selecting multiple classes returns records matching any selected class. Review the goods and services description for each record rather than relying on the class number alone.
Understanding Trademark Status
Recorded status and submission review status are separate. Pending, Under Review, Rejected and Changes Requested submissions are not public. Approval publishes information in this portal; it does not verify legal registration. CURRENTLY REGISTERED is reserved for source-verified registrations; LIVE IN INDEX does not claim official registration.
Submitting New Registration Information
New Registration accepts trade mark information without a public account. Review the preview before submitting. Retain the private receipt to check progress or respond to a request for changes. Submission to this portal is not an application to register a trade mark with IP Australia.
Record Correction Requests
Open the affected record and select Report a concern. Identify the inaccurate information and describe the requested correction, including a reliable source where available. An authorised administrator reviews reports; public users cannot directly edit published records.
Dates and Search Results
Filing-date filters exclude records without a recorded filing date. Search results may be sorted and paginated. The search page address preserves criteria for sharing or returning to the same search.
